SEEKING JUSTICE

SPANISH VERSION

It is time to analyse a movie from Netflix, this time one made in 2011 starring by Nicolas Cage that I had not seen.

SYNOPSIS

A normal couple confronts a familiar tragedy when she is a victim of robbery and rape a random night. He has to decide whether making justice by his own hand or leaving the police to do its job. In the middle of his pain, he decides to go into a series of events which end involving him in a secret organisation. He has to find the way to clean up his name at the same time that he has to protect his wife from the consequences of those decisions. Ver trailer.

OVERVIEW AND EXPECTATIONS

It is a traditional story of tragedy and revenge which allows to see the difficult situations the family has to confront when sometime bad happens. I was waiting for a movie with more action scenes but it is orientated to the explanation of the plot. As a Nicolas Cage’s movie, it has small doses of interesting drama but I expected much less from this movie. The characters are well developed and the story is so interesting, even it made me think about how relevant it would be to create a group like this, of course, with rules and values well defined.

LOS PROTAGONISTAS

January Jones                                                         Nicolas Cage

January Jones          Nicolas Cage

If you click on the name you will see a gallery of photos of each one by Google. January is an American actress who I personally remember from X-Men: First Class, where played Emma Frost (photo). A little bit thin from my point of view but definitely so beautiful. I would like to have a ranking of the main characters in the movies that I post, a reason why if you want to give them a vote you can do it as follows:

¡SPOILERS ALERT! ¡SPOILERS ALERT!

FROM HERE THERE WILL BE CONTENT THAT TALKS DIRECTLY ABOUT SITUATIONS IN THE MOVIE, REASON WHY IF YOU WANT TO WATCH IT BEFORE TO CONTINUE IS A GOOD MOMENT TO DO THAT. WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED YOU CAN COME BACK TO FINISH YOUR CONTRIBUTION OTHERWISE IF YOU DO NOT MIND SPOILERS YOU WILL BE MORE THAN WELCOME TO CONTINUE. THE IDEA IS NOT TO TELL THE WHOLE MOVIE BECAUSE IT WILL BE ANNOYING FROM ME WITH YOU GUYS.

THE BEST SCENES

  1. When Will tries to save Alan Marsh instead of killing him and he ends falling down from the bridge and hitting by a truck. It was an unexpected situation.
  2. Something that deserves to be underlined is how members of the secret organisation are showing by themselves everywhere. For example, cops, friends and even people from the media.
  3. Another thing that must be mentioned is the famous phrase “The hungry rabbit jumps”, a password that had to be used to identify somebody as a member of the organisation and sometimes to confirm that some job had been done.

THE END

It is a happy ending. Simon, the corrupt person, dies and the organisation is now leaded by the liutenant of the police. However, Jimmy’s death is sad because he had enough motives to belong to that organisation and he had strong and trully believes. At the end Will clean his name, staying free of charges because of Alan’s death. Besides, he realised that even inside the media, where Alan worked, there were members of the organisation who will not allow the truth goes out to the public.

My final reflexion is that situations like the one Will lived, much of us, probably, would have done the same if Simon showed. Justice, in many moments, is not severe enough to generate trust in the victims.
